Beidh sé mar ionadaí an contae agus na scoile. Lá an-stairiúil a bheidh ann. Ádh mór a Eoin! Breis eolas ón sliocht seo ó RTÉ:
Dear Principal,
We’re really pleased to tell you that Eoin Ó Domhnáill who is a student at your school has been selected to be a delegate at RTÉ Youth Assembly on Climate at Dáil Éireann on Friday November 15th.
Eoin impressed the Assessors and the Final Judging Panel to be selected from almost 1000 applicants – it’s something both family and school can be very proud of. We hope that the school – students and teachers – will get behind the delegates as they head for Leinster House.
It’s the first ever Youth Assembly on Climate and will see 157 young people (10 to 17 year olds) from all twenty-six counties come together to discuss and determine their proposals for climate action. It’s a fitting platform for the young who have driven climate to the top of the national and international agenda. The Youth Assembly will be chaired by Ceann Comhairle, Seán Ó Fearghail.
The 157 delegates will work in groups under five themes to devise a Youth Assembly Proclamation on Climate.
The day has been structured and schedule to work within the school day so that classes and schools can take part in the day. It will be a proud moment to see one of their own take the seat of a TD at Dáil Éireann.
In order to make it available to ALL young people, the Dáil proceedings will be broadcast LIVE from Leinster House on RTÉ 2 and on News Now on the day.
We are asking you to put the date in the school diary and to encourage teachers to stream the Youth Assembly live. It’s an opportunity to open your own discussions on climate within the school on the day too.
There will also be an online ENDORSEMENT opportunity where students and members of the public can register their support for the Youth Assembly’s Proclamation on rte.ie/youthassembly from 2.30pm on the day. The greater the numbers of supporters the Youth Assembly’s Proclamation has, the more power it will hold.
